There were all these things that I was going to post over the weekend–or the four days between “Mystery Quote” and book reviews–but in the end I just ended up posting the last part of my story for Module 8–even though none of you would admit that you thought I posted too much.  Somehow some of those just weren’t posting days, so I didn’t post.  Did that make any sense?  Probably not.  Ah well.

So here we are with “Mystery Quote” again and,

Last week’s quote was from The Hundred Dresses by Eleanor Estes.  You can read my book review of it here.  Juliana guessed both the book, and that the ‘she’ was Maddie.  Great job!

Sounds like several of you had read the book, but didn’t catch this one.  I’ve found you have to know a book really well to be able to recognize an individual quote from it!  Leah‘s done all kinds of quotes from books I’ve read that I didn’t get because I’d only read it once!

Yes, I read a lot of books twice. . . or three times. . . or four. . . or five. . . or six. . . or seven. . . etc. #I’mWeirdLikeThat

Anyway, this week’s quote:

    “You precious chick!  Who put that into your head?” said [she]. . .  “‘Tisn’t in mine head; it’s in mine mouf,” answered [he], putting out his tongue, with a chocolate drop on it, thinking she alluded to confectionery, not ideas.

Michael made up a chocolates-song to sing.

It had one word: “chocolates.” #ThreeYearOld 🙂

Anyway,

Last week’s “Mystery Quote” was from Prophet by R.J. Larson.  Spencer, Ellen, Savannah, and Skylar all got it right.  The name in the brackets was “Ela” and Savannah and Skylar got it right.

Four people?  Phew!  I think that’s a record!  Oh! I came up with something to mention:

If you look up the quote in the book, your guess still counts.  You still had to guess which book to look in.

Just thought I would clarify that.  I’ve looked up several quotes from Leah’s blog!  Now for this week’s quote:

[She] remembered that because afterwards it didn’t seem like bright blue weather anymore, although the weather had not changed in the slightest.

Go ahead and guess what name is in the brackets.

Phew!  It’s been two weeks!  Did any of you guess during that bonus week?  Anyway:

Last week’s quote came from The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien.  Ellen and Becca guessed the right author–and fantasy world! 🙂 (You’re first guess was right, Ellen.)

I was going to include this part of the quote:

Elves know a lot and are wondrous folk for news, and know what is going on among the peoples of the lands, as quick as water flows, or quicker. (50)

But ‘elves’ definitely would have had to go, and what in the world do you put in the brackets?  [they]?  I don’t know.  So I just cut it off.  Now, for this week’s quote:

A gift.  Was it?  [She] hunched over and hid her face in her ash-smeared hands, resisting the impulse to bang her forehead on the aged stone floor.  And yet… and yet… if she refused, would she ever hear His voice again?

I think this is a pretty obvious one for those of you who have read the book, but maybe not.  It also probably doesn’t make any sense if you haven’t! 🙂

Hi, guys!  It’s Tuesday!!! 🙂

I’m SUPER excited!

Okay, let me explain what “Mystery Quote” is.  For those of you who read “Leah’s Bookshelf” it’s essentially “Guess a Quote” called something different.  Thank you for inspiring me, Leah!  “Guess a Quote” is my favorite part of your blog! 🙂

So: for those of you who don’t read Leah Good’s blog, let me explain: I’ll be posting on Tuesdays.  Once a week I will post a quote without saying what book it’s from.  You guys guess what book it’s from and post your guess in the comments.

Leah edits the title and author out of the comments, but I’m too lazy to do that, so please come up with your guess before you look at the other comments.  Thanks!

I’m not sure how long I’ll be doing this–at least until my next science story (which I’m having a lot of fun with, by the way!), but I’ll probably keep doing it until The Sacrifice, and then I’ll most likely keep doing it in between stories.

Leah puts the date in her titles, but I’ve never really held with dates (except birthdays) so I’m going to number them.  Also, that way if someone finds one of these posts, they know to search for number *** to find the next one, if they don’t recognize the quote! 🙂

Okay, almost ready!  A few more things: I’m starting with a book that I think most of you have read, but as we go on I might branch off a little, just to see who’s read what.  Oh! and I’m doing two quotes this week.  I might not always.  I will try to usually have one.  I really should do it ‘normal’ the first week, but it was such a good book I couldn’t help myself! 🙂
